When representing YCF, players and parents/guardians agree to:
Obey all rules, regulations and procedures as determined by the coaching staff.
Follow all instructions provided by the coaching staff at practices, games and team events.
Exhibit sportsmanship and respect for teammates, coaches and opponents at all times.
Communicate with coaches and other parents to stay informed of all team activities and events.
Address all questions or concerns directly to the coaching staff in a calm and courteous manner.
Actively participate in all team sponsored tournaments and activities by volunteering in some capacity as expected.
Request permission from the YCF coaching staff before practicing or competing with another water polo club or team.
The following conduct is unacceptable and will not be tolerated:
Disrupting practices or games in any way including failing to abide by coaches’ directions
Disrespecting teammates, coaches, the YMCA, its members and/or the pool facilities.
Destruction or damage to our YMCA, any facility we visit or other team member’s property
Possession or use of alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs or tobacco products.
Criticizing, name-calling, use of profanity, abusive or disrespectful language or gestures directed towards the coaches, officials, swimmers, other parents or spectators at competitions, practices and team events.
Confronting the coaches with concerns or problems in front of the other parents or athletes.
Practicing or competing with a non-YCF water polo team without express, written permission from a YCF coach.
Failure to abide by the YCF Code of Conduct by either the athlete or the parent/guardian may result in immediate disciplinary action as determined by the coaching staff to include but not be limited to:
Suspension from practice.
Suspension from an event.
Suspension from a tournament.
Suspension from the swim team program and/or the YMCA.
Forfeiture of all payments and/or credits for participation in an event and/or program.
Any combination of the above.
YCF athletes and parents/ guardians must pay all program and tournament fees in a timely manner and be mindful of the team’s monetary policies:
The only method of payment for year-round water polo groups, including YCF’s middle school & 10U teams at the Aquatic Center, is Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). All EFTs will draft on (or around) the 15th of each month.
Seasonal water polo programs, such as splashball or the high school club, charge a single fee for the season.
Program fees cannot be prorated or refunded, even if the athlete is unable to attend all practice sessions.
If an EFT, for any reason, isn’t able to be processed a $20 return payment fee in addition to the regular monthly payment is due.
Program changes or cancellations must be submitted in writing to the membership desk by the 1st of the month.
YCF Travel Policy:
All athletes will attend and be punctual for all team functions including meetings, practices, games and meals.
All athletes will remain with the team at all times and not leave the venue, hotel, restaurant or any other place where the team has gathered without the permission/knowledge of the coaching staff.
Coaches will determine room assignments. Athletes will treat all teammates with respect.
Athletes must be in their rooms by the set curfew time and observe lights out at the specified time.
Rooms will be left in a presentable state upon checkout. Any personal or property damage will result in disciplinary action and the parent/guardian will be responsible for any/all financial damage.
A male and female are not permitted in a room alone together.
Cell phones may be collected during some or all team meetings, meals and events.
Cell phone use of any kind is prohibited in any locker room.
Violations may result in but are not limited to:
Being benched during games.
Being sent home by bus at the parents’/guardians’ expense.
Not being allowed to travel with the team.
Being suspended from the team.
Being removed from the team.
The decisions of the coaching staff will prevail in any disciplinary action and the coaches can make and enforce necessary interpretations of the YCF Code of Conduct at any time.
